Sorrel

You can talk about sorrel for a long time, at least take the word "sorrel" itself, in which you need to know where to put the correct stress and according to the school curriculum, this stress should be placed on the letter "e", which is in the second syllable of the word "sorrel". But since the word "sorrel" has been used by the people for centuries with an emphasis on the letter "a", which stands in the first syllable, philologists have allowed the use of the word "sorrel" with an emphasis on the letter "a" in the first syllable. But still, the school curriculum requires stress in the second syllable - so make no mistake.

The sorrel plant itself is very useful and it is used as a vitamin remedy in the spring, when the body is deficient in vitamins over the winter. Green cabbage soup is usually prepared from sorrel, as well as a green salad with egg, green onions and even with young nettle leaves.

In addition to sour sorrel, there is also such a plant as horse sorrel - this plant is much taller than sour sorrel and it has a very powerful root, which is very difficult to uproot in the garden. Horse sorrel is not eaten because it is very coarse and not even sour.
