Some pictures of the Thaya Valley at the Austrian Czech Border
Because of the Iron Curtain there are some places in Europe that still have a very nice and unspoiled nature. One of these places is the Thaya Valley between the Austrian Border to the Czech. But also at the Border to Slovakia and the March River you can still find a nature reserve with a lot of nice animals, birds and untouched nature like in these pictures. Time Flew by a alot slower there and we are lucky enought that some of these places are still preserved here in Europe and the Biodiversity is very good there compared to other places.
I alway like to visit this place for birdphotography especially "birds of Prey" like the white tailed eagle, but also the imperial eagle should still live there, as well as a lot of kites and buzzards. For this year we are currently planing to visit this place for a week in late spring, but maybe even a second time im Summer, depending on the weather and the sightings of birds that are reoported there.

Because both, the March and the Thaya are not really deep rivers, it was probably easy to illegally cross the border at some spots. The border was heavily guarded and there where a lot of border posts and some of them are still there today, years after the border was opened for everyone to cross. There is a small Hermits Dwelling at the border and a story to it.
