I'm from the Philippines and this plant is common in our surroundings. In the local dialect, we call it "Alugbati". It grows through cuttings and its 'fruit' (the round purple pellets that grows on the stem) is deeply pigmented and stains clothing very easily. Common preparation for this plant is to harvest the leaves and stir fry it with garlic and soy sauce.
