I worked in a GM plant. Started on the line as an 18 year old, (engine line putting in engines and running gear) and finished in management. I left because some crazy assholes crashed a plane into the WTC in New York and what I was doing no longer seemed important. Took some time off, reinvented myself and came back a better person, happier and more productive as a husband and human.
It's a good story I guess. But one of personal pain and gain and obviously quite a personal story.
They made cars, sedans and wagons. Even imported them to the states badged Chevrolet. The cops used them I think.
Well I knew you were too smart to be a line worker, just didn't know how high of an executive you were when you left. That's a great story indeed. Does the Missus work?
I ended up in the plastics plant managing a few hundred people. Started on the line though of course. I learned a lot at the plant but got sick of it at the end. Watching people jump off the World Trade Centre that morning when I woke up...Made me see how stagnant at life I'd become and reminded me that life is short. That event changed my life.
Oh! man, you guys have tons going on then! Our business? You work in commercial real estate plus help your wife or do you both run the beauty business together?
It's our business but I don't do a thing for it, it's all her. She's pretty capable. We discuss things if course, but she makes final decisions based on her I duatry knowledge. I'm more just a sounding board. We do everything together really, but specialise in our fields.
