in #libertarian6 years ago

A coalition of libertarians from different economic schools of thought came together and created the New Orleans Unity Accord to unite against the state.

I think the resolution you proposed was perfectly worded and I was disappointed it didn't pass. The first "Accord" resolution proposed by Audacious was a barrel full of fish hooks. Too much subjectivity to argue about, especially the "involuntary servitude."

The "regardless of what a voluntary society might look like" is exactly what we needed. It seems we've transcended the Red vs Blue paradigm, yet still have this Us vs Them mentality with the VOLUNTARY commies. Regardless of your economic school of thought its all just theory. Until we abolish the state together nobody gets to prove their pet theories.

The Libertarian party is just another iteration of the statist "majority rule" system.

It certainly will be if anarchists don’t participate

Nah, it was started by anarchists as a message-only platform, if I am not mistaken. Now these goof balls like Kokesh are actually seeking positions of power.

Regardless of how it started, it’s growing. Whomever takes advantage of that exposure will get their message across to a few more people. The fact that it’s still a relatively small platform gives us a better chance of steering it in the correct direction.

Well, being that Kokesh’s message is to “put down the ideology” and unite for centralized distribution of resources and non-market conceptions of property, I sure am glad that very few care.

Death threat? You can't be serious. Please stay safe

geeze, what did you do to her?

The issue with unity with communists is not merely disagreement between Marxian and Austrian schools of economic thought. It's a disagreement in philosophy: the assertion that "property is theft". Differing moralities on this scale cannot peacefully coexist. Communists would have the perfect moral lease to conquer their neighbors and institute a private-property-less Marxian system, perhaps against the will of their neighbors, simply because they do not believe you have any right to own property, that owning property is aggression, and that they have the moral right to seize your property and return it to the public. This is completely incompatible with actual Rothbardian "propertarian" libertarianism. Unity is only good for them, good for them to take us over.

Libertarians are not against only the state, but against all initiatory violence and coercion, including that by non-state actors. If the act of defending property is considered initiatory violence rather than retaliatory violence, that ideology is fundamentally at odds with everything the Libertarian Party currently stands for, and has stood for since the beginning.

I had Libertarian candidate for New York Governor on my podcast and basically we would make contracts with private corporations to improve our infrastructure.

I have your back. Thanks a bunch for what you do.

wow, dude, nice cape.

Please ask this guy about his button refuting the concept of private property. What makes you think this guy will view taking private property for "the public good" as a violation of the NAP?
