Louisiana Sheriff Arrests Resident for Wrong Think

It appears that making an observation about a concerning event on social media is the crime of “terrorizing of the public” in Tangipohoa parish under the tenure of sheriff Gerald Sticker who arrested one of his residents for noticing the department erecting a road block and flying a helicopter near the jail and guessed that another inmate had escaped.

Arden Wells made the FB post on June 24th. They didn’t arrest him until a month later so it “appears” that his post about the appearance of the situation was not an imminent public threat and did not fit the criteria of any of the three categories of unprotected speech (true threats, incitement of violence, imminent lawless action) that would warrant criminal charges, which they failed to bring in this case.
