Too many times we as humans get comfortable with what we do, then like a sudden storm, life throws us a fist full of dirt to show that things arent always going to be rosy.

I once read a saying;

Life is about ups and downs,if your life is stagnant,it means your dead.

An ecg machine was used to illustrate this perfectly.

Adversity

Such a word, such a strong word, many have an idea of what it is, and in nigeria here, many hear about it every sunday so they have an idea of what it is,but what exactly is,. . . . adversity?

Defined in the dictionary;
A state of misfortune
A calamitous event
A season of hardship.

Everything says the same thing, adversity is bad news.

Everyone will experience a downtime

As an individual, I faced hardship when I was growing up, I faced a lot of downright bad situations. There were times I had no transport fare to go to school, or times where there was no money for school fees, and even times when there was no food.

As a nation, Nigeria has been plagued with a recessive economy for the past year, recent news state that food prices just hit an all time high, and for the first time, I cannot comfortably cook a good meal.

When the trouble comes

In my mind, I have a guideline. I know that troubles and tribulations shall come, and therefore I prepare myself down for the road ahead.

  1. Acceptance and understanding: When faced with a problem or an incoming challenge, a hardship, rather than waste time and energy fighting or blaming someone else, focus those into understanding that these things happen, that the world revolves round the good and bad times.

  2. Patience: Remember that things take time before returning to normal, no amount of rush can hasten things back, more likely, youll make things worse.

  3. Communication and goal setting: Be open to ideas from all regions, be willing to listen, and then set goals and targets to be reahed.

  4. Realization and maintainace: Once your goals have been met and the hardship passed, take time out to understand the steps you took to move forward above the problem.

Above all, more than anything else, practice being persistence, be resilient and

NEVER

GIVE

UP.
