RE: What is Mindful Selfishness? - Why you need it & How to practice it
I vibe with a lot of what you said and am also working on similar things.
I think if I had any disagreement it would mostly be about the label of "selfishness" which often has a negative sort of definition. Maybe you could call it Mindful Self Love instead?
I've definitely been working on self love a lot recently and have been more and more appreciating my own company and focusing on myself and my needs.
So I definitely think there's some great wisdom in that approach as I have been eperiencing it first hand, though I still think empathy is super important as well so like many things in life it seems to be a balance! If you're too far in either direction is could be a problem.
Great post, I think this is a very helpful subject for many people and I like reading more about it.
By the way. I left a message for you on Discord. I shoulda asked you sooner as it is somewhat time sensitive, but anyways... I'm hoping you can respond within a couple of days?
I thought about it too, but the idea that you could potentially (unintentionally) hurt someone while taking care of yourself didn't quite seem to fit with the idea of self-care.
That's why I chose to write 'mindful selfishness' instead because it points how sometimes you just have to stop caring about other people, even your own loved ones, to heal yourself and for bettering your own mental health. I see the point you're trying to make, though.
Indeed. Empathy is a great skill, but it comes at an equally great cost.
Thank you :) I'm glad you found it useful!
Oh, I didn't know. It's been a while since I've been active on anywhere related to Steem. Mainly due to my exams. Will see your message asap :)
