What factor lets you believe in the existence of GOD?

My concept of God is quite different from the usual thing. I strongly feel the existence of God but I have no ways to express the full potential of the GOD as well as a fair explanation to justify the existence. I strongly believe that GOD exists but I cannot say for sure that these are all the capabilities of God. One part of people say that God is a concept that was introduced just to keep people disciplined and to threaten people to be noble.

I completely agree that it is also one of the reason why God was explained but apart from that I have so many other reasons to feel the existence of God. Though I may not be able to express what I feel, I somehow realize that God definitely present.

We say that God is omnipresent and Omnipotent and I feel that is true. If someone is saying that they completely understood what God is all about and they are confident that they know the full potential of God, I will not believe them. Not because I don't believe on God but according to me I would say that a person can only realize the existence of God but not understand the full capabilities of God.

I have had instances in my life that made me strongly believe the existence of an omnipresent and omnipotent power beyond me. Lots of instances in my life have made me believe that it is not me who is running the show but it is someone else running the show and I'm just an actor in the show. It is always said that the script of our life is already defined and we are just acting according to the script. We may not know that we are acting according to the script but the omnipresent and omnipotent power that makes us act definitely knows the script.

I'm not going to go into details of who the God is. We have enough Gods around us in every religion. I'm a strong believer of Sanathana Dharma (Also referred as Hinduism). According to my religion there are over 33 million Gods and demigods. The scriptures also explains about each and every god and the capabilities of each gods. Today reading those scriptures may make us think that they are not real and are fictitious, but I think they were created for some reason. The same types of explanations happen in other religions as well.

I used to think that if Krishna, Jesus and Mohammed had sat together and had a discussion, we might have had just one religion in the world to follow. The great thing that I respect in my religion is the fact that I'm free to follow anything and free to worship any God. And I'm also allowed to be an Atheist and I can still be called a Hindu. Not all the religions in the world has this flexibility.

I feel that if people ask some basic questions to themselves they will be able to easily explore the truth about God. I'm not going to say that God is present or not and what his capabilities are. But I know for sure that God is definitely present and I have realized that several times in my life. The questions every individual should explore are:

  • Are we just made of biological elements like skin, bones, flesh etc?
  • Do we have anything else in our body that fuels our body?
  • Can we realize the existence of soul?
  • What happens to us after we die?
  • What was our state before birth?
  • What is the purpose of our life?

Anyone who starts exploring for answers for the above questions will definitely get some answers that will relate them with God. If you never had any of the above questions yet in your life, I would recommend you to wait for the moment. It is a great feeling to explore answers for the above questions. I'm not someone who blindly believes whatever scriptures say. I try to relate it with my experience and realize the truth. And that is how I have arrived to the conclusion about the existence of God. You can also give it a try.

Well, I don't believe in God. Have many rational answers for the questions you have raised. But don't feel to answer as I have already wasted a good chunk of my time defending my stance.

Absolutely no problem. There is nothing wrong in having no belief over the concept of God. I have also gone through such phases. As I mentioned in the article, a person can be religious person even without believing God. I'm glad that you already explored answer to these questions. I don't really care what answers you arrive to. There is no right or wrong answers according to me. But I'm glad that you got the opportunity to explore answers.
