Sketches (derived from Greek σχέδιος - schedios, "done extempore" is a work of drawing that is not intended to be the work of the end A sketch can have several goals, record something the artist sees, or develop ideas for later use, or can also be used as a brief way of describing one's image, idea, or principle.
Sketches can be made on various image media. This term is often applied to graphic works done on dry media, such as silverpoint, graphite, pencil, charcoal, or pastel, but can also be applied to drawings done using pens and inks, ballpoint pens, watercolors and oil paints. The last two types are commonly referred to as "watercolor" or "oil sketch". A sculptor can also sketch a 3D model of clay, plastisin, or wax.
