WHO WAS MORE CRAZY, ME? OR EVERYONE ELSE?

I haven't posted anything since the worldwide pandemic began. Been trying to come up with something to share that was creative and original, but also expressed my discomfort level and otherwise disdain for the blatant disregard and downplay of the virus by our government's leaders. That photo is the best I could come up with.

I live in the state of New Jersey, USA, one of the most densely populated states in the country, and from what I have seen, it is about two steps away from marshall law. All kidding aside, I can actually envision an apocalyptic, "Mad Max" type of lifestyle in my own future based on people's attitudes, the rationing of water and food in grocery stores and the proposed curfews that have begun to be enforced across the state. The breakdown of essential services in the area tells me that our tax dollars do absolutely nothing in times of great need. Granted I do understand this is a bit of a unique situation, but this "head for the hills" attitude so many people have was so apparent very early on during this crisis. If I'm being honest, it was a little bit sickening to see our own species run like scared rabbits and not the least bit proactive. What is even more disheartening is the fact that our own government downplayed this threat until the last possible second, and why? In order to get better press to win an upcoming election? Whatever the hell the motivations of the fat cats on The Hill actually are, I could care less. It seems like every man for himself out there right now though. When the 9/11 terror attacks occurred, despite how terrible they were, there was a real sense of teamwork and brotherly love amidst the fall out. I'm not feeling that at all with this pandemic, and it's a little scary. It would appear that the dystopian future we've built for ourselves is here.

I feel as though I'm going mad, my mind has wandered to places it shouldn't, well beyond the typical abyss of craziness, far from blaming these thoughts on excessive abuse of hallucinogenic substances during my teenage years. There are many questions I have about the world and about life... there are things that I haven't seen or tasted or smelled or heard, things I hoped to experience one day, and I feel like time is now limited to do those things, and I don't mean my personal time on this Earth, I mean the time left for Earth. Stay safe everyone.

Prepare as necessary...

My name is Max. My world is fire and blood. Once, I was a cop. A road warrior searching for a righteous cause. As the world fell, each of us in our own way was broken. It was hard to know who was more crazy... me... or everyone else...

Here they come again, worming their way into the black matter of my brain. I am the one who runs from both the living and the dead. Hunted by scavengers, haunted by those I could not protect... I exist in this wasteland, a man reduced to a single instinct... survive.
