I think that someone should write a will when they start having substantial assets like a house or when they have their 1st child. I made my will when my son was a toddler. It's a rather simple one which gives most of my assets to my husband and if he predeceases me, my son.
That is a good point of reference. Many people suggested revisiting it when major life changes good or bad occur.
