Borran's Beer Review: Köstritzer Schwarzbier
It's been a while since my last review, sorry for that! Anyway, today I'm reviewing a Schwarzbier called Köstritzer Schwarzbier from the brewery Köstritzer Schwarzbierbrauerei. A classic black beer from Germany. I've had it many times before, but I have actually never reviewed the beer before, so let's do it!
Description of the beer:
"Since April 1991, the Köstritzer black beer brewery, a subsidiary of the Bitburger brewery, has emerged as of one of the most modern breweries in Thuringia. In September 1993, it was with great pride we (re-) introduced the "original Köstritzer black beer"
History & Facts:
- Köstritzer Schwarzbierbrauerei was founded in 1543.
- One of the oldest producers of Schwarzbier (black beer) in Germany.
- The brewery has been owned by the Bitburger Brauerei since 1991.
- The total output of the brewery was 910,000 hL in 2004.
- Owned by Bitburger since 1991.

Appearance: black color with a medium white head.
Smell: roasted malty aroma.
Mouthfeel: light to medium body, medium carbonation.
Taste: lightly sweet, roasted malts, hints of chocolate and coffee.
This beer is like a cross between a lager and a porter and suits well with food. Very easy to drink, but still has a lot of flavors. If you like black lagers, you should try this one! P.S. it is also quite cheap!
Verdict: My rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Yeah a few German classics and the odd new craft beer one - one of the early craft Brewers in Australia - Matilda Bay brewed quite a good one called Dogbolter.
