A unique profession of rural life—a fish fry seller’s bicycle.
An old bicycle moves forward along the narrow dirt road of the village, and a large container tied to the back of that bicycle—filled with live fish fry. This scene is an ever-familiar and important part of our rural life. Fish fry sellers usually start their journey early in the morning, so that they can reach different villages before the heat of the day.
The large clay or metal container tied to the back of the bicycle is specially made so that the fry remain alive in the water. From time to time, the sellers change the water in the container or let air in, so that the fish remain healthy. Their hard work is very important for the farmers, because these fry eventually grow up and increase fish production.
This profession is not only a livelihood, but also a service. Fish farming is an important part of the rural economy, and these fry sellers are the main driving force of that cycle. Their bicycle is their only hope—through which they reach far and wide.
