Farmer's life amidst greenery

One of the most familiar and vivid scenes of rural life in Bengal is the paddy field. The picture shows two farmers working in the paddy field. There are vast green paddy fields all around, and water-filled land in the middle—which reflects the agricultural life of Bengal. A woman and a man are getting into the water and planting paddy seedlings. Their hardworking attitude proves how difficult and labor-intensive the life of a farmer is.

Paddy cultivation is one of the main agricultural activities in Bangladesh. At certain times of the year, farmers plant paddy seedlings by holding water in the land. This work is quite difficult, because many times they have to stand or lean in the water for a long time. Yet the farmers work tirelessly, because their hard work ensures the food security of the people of the country. This scene reminds us that farmers are the main strength of the country. Our daily food comes from their sweat and hard work. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to respect farmers and value their hardships.
