Nutritious small fish.
A bowlful of small freshwater fish. Such fish are usually found in ponds, canals, beels and rivers and are very popular in the markets of rural Bangladesh. Although small, these fish are rich in nutrients. They contain high levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus and various vitamins, which are equally beneficial for children and adults. Especially small fish can be eaten with bones, which plays an important role in meeting the body's calcium needs . Small fish have a special place in the rural food culture of Bangladesh. They are used to make various delicious dishes such as fried, stewed, stewed or dried. Cooking them with mustard paste, garlic, green chilies and tomatoes enhances the taste. These fish are more available during the rainy season and are also relatively cheap in the market. Small fish are not only delicious, but also economically important. Many fishermen and small fish farmers make a living by selling these fish. If properly conserved and sustainably harvested, this resource can contribute to the country's nutrition and economy for a long time. Therefore, there is a need to raise awareness about conserving and cultivating local fish species.
