Sweet and sour gifts of the monsoon
One of the fruits that satisfies the taste buds of the people of this country in the market during the rainy days of Ashadh-Shravan is latkon. The yellow-green fruits scattered on the newspaper in the picture remind us of the ever-familiar nature of Bengal during the monsoon season. Latkon is basically a delicious and nutritious local fruit. Although its skin is a bit thick, the insides are soft and juicy. When you bite into it, there is a wonderful explosion of sweet and sour taste in your mouth. Although latkon was once considered a neglected fruit, its commercial cultivation has increased greatly. Especially in the Narsingdi, Gazipur and Sylhet regions of Bangladesh, a large amount of high-quality latkon is produced.
In addition to its taste, latkon also has unique nutritional properties. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps in fighting colds and coughs and increasing immunity during the monsoon season. Besides, it contains a lot of calcium, iron and minerals. A pair of latkans is a great way to relieve fatigue and restore the taste of the mouth. From village markets to busy city streets, now everywhere, the latkans arranged on plastic crates or newspaper beds are a feast for the eyes. This refreshing and nutritious fruit of the monsoon not only satisfies our taste buds, but also plays a great role in keeping us healthy and alert.
