RE: End It Movement - 02/13/2020: A Day To “Shine A Light on Slavery”

I can appreciate the movement to end a bad thing. I more so appreciate that you didnt mention America as the only place that had involvement with slavery. It occured in many countries and still exists today. Lets jam, rock, and pay respect to all humans!

Sort:

We in the states may need to deal with our past as a nation (American chattel slavery is historically one of the most violent and oppressive forms of slavery, if not the most), but that should not take away the overall focus on modern slavery. Dealing with American slavery is more of the US as a whole coming to terms with the blood we shed and admitting mistakes to assist with dealing with current and other past mistakes and more importantly stop future mistakes, while dealing with modern slavery is about more about ending the bloodshed. When talking US racism and various social issues (such as redlining), then discussing US slavery makes sense. When talking about the current global slavery market, then we have to look at it at a global level. People learn about historical horrors to avoid those mistakes. People can also deal with their nation's past while also dealing with the global present and future.

Conversations like these are exactly why I wanted to make this post today. While America definitely still has an issue with slavery, if we truly want to increase awareness of a truly global problem, we can’t limit our focus to only the US. Appreciate and respect your input here.

I dig "Lets jam, rock, and pay respect to all humans!"

Heck yeah bullfrog, and i dig such a thorough post by you. The world and society, time, its all just madness. I think people as a whole, are headed in the right direction. Were always gonna improve upon our system and fight evil, like bullfrog batman or something lol
