The Amazing Cabrillo Tide Pools
Bucket lists are funny things. Often times, they are populated with things like "Lead an expedition to the North Pole", or "swim with a school of fish in Jakarta."
I have learned, in my years on earth, that many times the most beautiful sights to behold are right in our backyard. Sometimes it just takes hopping in the car for some hours.
Cabrillo Tide Pools
If you are in #SanDiego, a great stop before heading out to dinner is Cabrillo National Monument. While there, make sure to check out the tide pools. These are naturally occurring "pots" in the rock that capture some amazing wildlife for observation.
There is so much biodiversity here, you can see everything from urchins to mollusks to decapods.
If you are there with kiddos, watch for two things: 1) be sure the kiddos don't get close to the strong tides, and 2) make sure kiddos don't accidentally smash the little critters!
If you are unable to see these amazing natural wonders, look into what amazing things there are to see near you. And as always, share it here on Steemit!
Great article! I'm a big supporter of exploring your own cities, states, and countries. We so often miss the things that are right in front of us!
@terminalblue Agreed! I think that as we grow attached to the areas around us, we become better citizens and people. We want to take care of our surroundings to keep the things that we appreciate.
Thanks for sharing!
