The Big Bang theory : Curious a life similar to Sheldon cooper

I am watching the series of the big bang theory and just curious to know what if a person life is bit similar to Sheldon cooper? Is he a very childish character over the series or he is pretty mature to ignore all the colors of this wonderful life.. I am pretty impressed by his character..
