A habit that quietly dictates our life

in #life8 years ago

We are all slaves of habits - we already know that. But what we often forget is that our habits dictate our lifes and, more importantly, that they can be changed. Especially one that is stronger than any other habit.

First, when we talk about habits, we often think about various daily rituals such as morning coffee, petty addictions, the order of executing obligations etc.

In that case, when we think that we need to change something, we lack motivation - we don't consider reducing smoking and coffee or living a healthier life something important, we do not think of it as something that will greatly affect our lives. We'd rather leave those small habits alone.

Even though the small ones also significantly affect the quality of life, there is something else in the background that directly creates the tone of life, which we don't think of at all.

Habit of thinking

We are often dissatisfied with some aspects of our life and we do not know how to change it. With time, the state of dissatisfaction with this same aspect becomes nothing more than a habit.

The very thought of not knowing how to change it becomes a habit.

So, for example, the need for constant regret becomes a habit. The role of the victim becomes a habit. Pessimism - habit. Gossiping - habit. Worrying - habit. Fear - habit.

And all this comes from our head.

In other words, everything we think is a habit.

Unless we decide to change that.

For years, I was convinced that stopping smoking was almost impossible. I couldn't imagine that I would ever again be truly happy and fulfilled if I gave up that pleasure.

Those thoughts about stopping smoking that I had for years (and just smoking) did not help me stop smoking. The decision to terminate that habit came as a consequence of new thoughts caused by a single book.

New thoughts have been created with a variety of ways and options that I simply did not see before.

After I stopped smoking, for a long time I was not completely happy (as I predicted). But those new thoughts kept me going.

After a lot more time, I began to feel freedom. I brought up to something completely new - thoughts, feelings and beliefs that I had not previously had. On this basis, I started to change other things.

The conclusion is that I could not imagine how to be happy without a cigarette because it was a feeling I did not know anymore; It's been a long time since I did not need a cigarette. But that did not mean that this feeling does not exist or that I can't cause it once again.

In the same way, one can not imagine a day without worrying, gossiping, drinking coffee or eating sweets. But also, one can not imagine how would it be to do the job he likes, or not to worry about money.

This does not mean that it is not achievable.

How?

We all wanted something very bad, and when we finally got it, we realized we did not really need it.

The same thing is with other thoughts.

We can convince ourselves of various nonsense, and because of the habit of repeating those same stupid thoughts, we are bothered to create what we really want.

If for years we carry some negative thoughts, worries or fears; if we feel dissatisfied with something or simply want to accomplish more than we currently have, it is time to change the minds we are accustomed to.

How? Slowly and regularly.

Step by step and our thoughts will change, and with them your reality. Focus and time are vital - because there are a lot of methods out there.

When the old thoughts you are trying to sabotage start to disappear; it's not your habit anymore. And over time you will have a better thought stuck in your head.

And with even more time, you will have a few better thoughts that will carry you exactly where you want to be.
