Difference between ignorance and stupidity

This was brought to my attention by a very intelligent man. Everyone wants to use the words "stupid" and "ignorant" making us believe that they are synonomous. They are, in fact, not synonomous at all!

Ignorant means "to ignore"! Plain as day, the word IGNORE is part of the word ignorant. When you walk past something and see that it is out of place, and you choose to IGNORE it, that is being ignorant.

However, when you know something is wrong, and you make the choice to do it anyway, that is the definition of stupid. Knowing better and making a choice to make a bad decision.

Society today has become so lax on the true meanings of words and it is leading to the dumbing down of society. Hope this helps clear it up!
