I . HOPE TO BE HIPPIES

These are teenagers between fifteen and eighteen. They are attracted primarily by the glamour and mystique of the abandoned free life, without the restrictions of parents and the pressures of having to produce in the "straight" world.

ii . TRIBAL HIPPIES

They simply want to try something new and experiment with life. In a kind of tribal togetherness they seek to shake off their terrible guilt feelings and their emptiness, and to satisfy an inner craving for love and understanding.

iii . SYNTHETIC HIPPIES

Among these are the city hippies, sub urban hippies, political hippies, weekend hippies, musical hippies and tourists. They want the world to think they are hippies, but in their heart they dont have the courage to go all the way. Most of them are under thirty, but some are in their sixties.

Among them are business people who get a great kick out of rubbing shoulders with hippies.
