I Picked Up Five Pallets Last Month

About the end of last month I seen an ad on Craigslist for five free pallets. It was in the back of someone's pickup. So I went there with a copy of that ad. I like to carry a copy of the ad just in case someone thinks I am trying to steal something.

So I found the place and put them in my 91 Chevy S10 pickup. I made sure to tied them down as I do remember somebody driving a pickup a long time ago with a bunch of pallets, but with no tie downs. Well that is dangerous.

I always use a lot of trucker's knots to tie down a load.

Did I tell you long ago when I was still in high school I would work for my friend's dad? He was a TV repair person. Well anyway my friend and I would use a pickup to pick and deliver TV's.

Well one time I was tying a knot. I didn't know too much about knots so I was tying a granny knot, as I was tying down a customer's console TV to the pickup. Well, the customer seen that the granny knot I was trying to tie wasn't very good for securing his TV.

He said to me, Let me show you how to tie a truckers knot. Well, he did just that. I asked him to show me a couple more times so I could get it in my head and he did that.

Well, thanks to him I now know how to tie a trucker's knot. This was sometime in the late 70's.

A little bit later when I use to take trips with the YMCA, they had a hard time tying down this load of luggage on top of a used school bus that the YMCA had.

Well, I told one of those counselors that I can go up there and tie a trucker's knot and that it would hold. Well, the counselor let me go up there and I tied that knot and it held. After that they always let me tie down the load before we took off to our next destination.

It would be good for anyone that has a pickup to know how to tie the trucker's knot. I remember I was on a freeway and there was this pickup with a lot of garbage bags full of stuff in the bed of the truck, but it was not tied down.

Well, one of the bags full of whatever fell off his pickup and I ran over that big bag of stuff. Well, I guess that bag was full of blankets as a blanket got caught on the underside of my 89 Nissan Sentra.

There was no place to park so I just kept going. That was very dangerous. The blanket let go from under my car eventually, but that guy should have tied down his stuff before taking off.

Well, let's get back to the pallets. So I got the 5 pallets home. What am I going to do with them? I like to use them to stack my split firewood on.

I like how you started by talking about pallets and it led into a good story about how you learned to tie a good knot. Thanks for sharing and making trash (pallets) into useful!
