Our brain evolved to think in orders of intentionality, e.g. I think, that you think, that he thinks, that she thinks....etc.

The same function we use to assign thought or "read minds" by creating personas and assigning thought to them, we anthropomorphize many things.

One thing we anthropomorphize is groups and collectives, e.g. "my company did X", "my school says Y", or "my nation thinks Z"....etc.

The other is that our languages did not totally evolve further to name objects without sex, so we also anthropomorphize objects or abstractions such as "Isutitia" as female, father or mother land, we refer to ships as "she", or a hammer is masculine.
