RE: Afternoon Vlog - Trying to stay positive during these depressing times..

So you're saying if we stick our head in the sand and pretend nothing is happening around us, things will get better?

Easier to do so, if you lock the bad news out. I have long chosen not to burden myself with things I can not change anyway.

You can always change things, it's just a matter of how far you're willing to go. You can write a letter to your representatives, you can call them, you can protest in front of their office, you can organize or join a march. There are many things you can do, but the question is how much do you care about a particular issue? The problem with our country is that we have become desensitized, we don't care about things as long as they don't happen in our back yard and don't affect us on a personal level.

Sort:

It is not "sticking my head in the sand", but simply admitting that I can not do anything about yet another High School shooting in the USA. I do care about it, but it is completely out of my reach.

I suspect that the huge media coverage that these horrible events are getting may incentivize lost youths to imitate.

If one is made believe that the world is full of violence and despair, one may start hating one's life and lose all hope.

Hence my rant about media and bad news.
