Personal Development - Obsession
Now if you were brought up in and heavily influenced by today’s modern society, you know the words obsession or addiction have negative connotation. They mostly used to describe people misusing drugs, psychopaths or weird stalkers who get obsessed with a certain person. The ideal mental process is that you should just be normal and not get too carried away with a certain subject. And as soon you show a little bit too much of an obsessive quality, you are seen as mentally ill.
We have to use positive words like dedicated or committed to describe someone’s work ethic that might be seemed as obsessed. But still, they could be classified as a workaholic.
In order to become really successful and to reach your goals. You have to disregard what society tells you. You have to give yourself permission to be extremely obsessed or rather committed. You have to allow yourself to become completely immersed in an area to reach greatness within it, and yes there are a lot of people that will tell you that is wrong and you will only harm yourself or get burned out. They might actually just try to help you and only want the best for you like your parents, wife, husband or your best friends. But what you have to understand is that obsession or addiction itself is not bad for you. It’s just another trait in a human’s character. It only starts to be bad for you when you direct your obsession to harmful and unprofitable things.
Keep refueling your obsession. The best way to do that is to always keep updating your goals. Never think you made it, there are always things new things to conquer that you can get obsessed about and constantly repeating this cycle is the only way you can figure out how great your potential actually is.
