Homes for sale at 1 euro in Sardinia, Italy!

This morning at the TG they talked about a singular initiative by a mayor of Sardinia, Efisio Arbau, who already launched the "Ollolai capitale" project in 2015. To take stock of the situation the first citizen held a very busy press conference.
The central area of Sardinia, off the main routes of mass tourism, has been living for decades depopulation phenomena, especially of young people who do not glimpse opportunities take the path of abandonment of the native lands, and emigrate elsewhere in search of fortune.
The mayor, a lover of his land and convinced of the extraordinary potential of his area, has decided to launch this project to entice people to move to Ollolai.
If everyone runs off how to entice others to arrive?
It seems to have to row decisively against the current, but the mayor seems to have found the formula to entice some people to marry this cause, and agree to move to Ollolai.
How about investing 1 euro to secure a house in the Sardinian hinterland?
Obviously most are ruins or houses to be arranged, however the initiative has become famous all over the world.
In these days there was a press conference in which, in addition to the 'municipal administrator, there were the lucky first who were awarded the first homes sold.
The first buyer ever was Vito Casula with his wife, then the Cottu brothers and in both cases the houses have already been recovered.
Also present were two of the five Dutch families who secured in May, five houses in the city center, which are already working on the necessary renovations.
Then there will be other assignments, two houses respectively to a lady from Calabria and a couple from Sinnai, and any assignments to young couples of Ollolai will be considered.
In any case, the mayor will have the opportunity to work since at the moment 500 requests have been received, who knows the Sardinian village will soon be overpopulated?
Seriously, I find this a simple and brilliant idea.
We know that in Italy there are millions of houses and vacant apartments, therefore not used and despite this the building development shows no signs of diminishing; the cementification of our country advances with all the related problems and the destruction of our landscape heritage.
Speculations and work needs put pressure on our fragile territory, and often real ones
eco-monsters end up defacing our territory irremediably.
The contradiction between new buildings, already existing heritage not used and areas in a state of total abandonment require that we change politics.
Before granting new permits it would be necessary to use what already exists and recover the immense heritage in a state of total decadence.
Everywhere you turn around Italy is full of abandoned houses that, on the one hand, are useless, and on the other they end up disfiguring the landscape by discouraging people to live close to them, and thus encouraging the construction of new buildings away from degraded places.
Do we need work?
Ok, I understand that, but if we focus on restructuring and the recovery of abandoned assets there would be peacefully work for our construction sector without creating an employment crisis.
Whether in large cities, or in small businesses, urban planning policies need to be reviewed, with new criteria, our soil is limited and we can not waste it just to continue an old logic that is no longer sustainable.
For this I express appreciation for the initiative of the mayor Efisio Arbau, which goes in the right direction to enhance the existing heritage, rather than foster new building speculations.
Do we also move to Sardinia?
Do you have at least one euro to invest?
We could make a collection what do you say?
That is an

There are plenty of policies like that around mispopulated cities. It's a great way to incentives people to move to another country or city.

Yes I agree
It is always sad to see (young) peope living their hometowns and villages, but economic situation and opportunities in larger cities forces them to do so.
Yes, or young people if they want to stay at hometowns, they have to return to agriculture, or work like that.
