RE: Under a Blood Red Sun

in #life7 years ago

Thankfully our year has not been very active with fires. I don't even think we have a burning ban right now going on. I even been enjoying making some s'mores from time to time on a campfire during the weekends.

Sort:

Conditions are "perfect" for fires here. Super wet and long winter and spring, warm and wet late spring and early summer leading to enormous underbrush growth, and then it got bone dry for about 45-60 days. So it's basically a huge tinderbox waiting for a spark.

Thankfully, we got substantial thunderstorm with about 1" of rain on Saturday, which took the edge off, a little. But that was a pretty local phenomenon.

We do get some violent thunderstorms here. The other week I turned everything off after a fluorescent light blub flashed and changed colors before going out for good. Those can tend to start a forest fire so I'm glad we been having an a good year.
