RE: Creating a Better Life to Counter the Fall of Modern Society
So, I don't believe in excess regulation, or banning guns in any way, but background checks sound reasonable to me.
I don't think that you need to have 100 different guns, but if that's what you like to collect, then who am I to say you can't collect them? I like to collect comic books and trading cards. It doesn't mean that I'm using them every day, but I like to collect them...
Sure, there's a legitimate difference between a weapon and non-weapon. And even a difference between a knife / sword and a gun (there are knife / sword collectors as well). And further, a gun vs a rifle.
But how deep should we really have to go with banning these items when we could simply teach more about responsibility, accountability, and consequences? Would that help more than outright bans? Who knows...
A background check makes sense... and is important before allowing someone to have 100 different guns.
Where I am, there's also a background check and certain age requirement in order to have a license to possess firearms. One should also take a firearms training and safety course. So any history of mental illnesses or domestic violence within the individual or the family will cause the application to be rejeted.
