The news dates back to last March but, perhaps also thanks to the Christmas atmosphere, it has returned to the headlines in recent hours, given the approaching closing: Eaton, a U.S. multinational leader in the energy sector, has decided to incorporate Fibrebond, a Louisiana-based company specialized in the construction of protective enclosures for electrical equipment, into its group.

The agreed sale price was set at 1.7 billion dollars, considered appropriate by both parties in light of the extraordinary revenue achieved by Fibrebond, estimated at nearly 400 million dollars per year.

Celebrating the agreement are not only the Walker family, founder and owner of the company since the 1980s, but also the more than 500 employees currently on payroll, who are themselves involved in this major transaction.

By the will of Graham Walker himself, CEO of Fibrebond, the company’s sale price must in fact be considered inclusive of a share equal to approximately 250 million dollars (15% of the agreed price), to be allocated precisely to the employees.

Eaton will grant the fortunate workers an average check of nearly half a million dollars, paid in monthly installments, provided, however, that they remain employed by the new owners for the next five years.

A bonus whose announcement is quickly spreading around the world, both for the remarkable gesture of the Walker family toward the workers and for the loyalty shown to the new buyers, who will thus have the opportunity to avoid staff departures, especially in key and highly specialized roles.

The employees of Fibrebond welcomed the news as a kind of Christmas “miracle.” Some will be able to pay off their mortgage, others to cover their children’s college tuition, and still others to launch business projects that had remained dreams in a drawer until then.

The story of Fibrebond has not always been easy, but Graham Walker himself was determined to secure this exceptional reward for his employees as a sign of gratitude for the loyalty shown even during the most difficult times.

December 31 will be Graham Walker’s last day leading the company. His stated desire is to positively influence people’s lives through his actions. He has certainly succeeded, and who knows—perhaps his gesture will convince other “bosses” not to underestimate their employees’ well-being any longer.
