A SHIP ABOUT TO SAIL
Have you ever thought about someone's definition of living?
Well let me tell you a story of someone who thinks having a luxurious life is the standard of living.
There was an introvert living in a world where people are full of their ego. where pride is associated with costly item. where living is no longer associated with happiness and contentment, but rather spending on luxurious things for the world to see that their way of living is way much better than the other.
The introvert have nothing but his family and friends. Where money is treasure, and hold greater value than pride.
When his friends treat him with food that he can't afford he feels grateful but also feel pity for himself.
When his friends invite him to go places that he haven't been before, he refuse and lie about why he can't go. Although the urge to join them on their adventures are great, he knows that his money is limited so he must not go.
He knows that money is not something that he can just spend, he was raised by his parents to spend wisely on things that matter. Things that can not be bought, or priced, but rather created.
As he grow older he thinks money is what he should always go after, he keep on dreaming on getting a job that pays high, starting a business that would make him rich. He wants to live the way he sees people living on social media. It poisoned him. he began to think that money is what dictates how a person lives. He began to think that money is what hindering him to live his life.
As he reached college, he had to change, him being an introvert is getting on his way. He met a group of eleven that he soon became part of. Half of the group was just like him, some are even doing much worse(on some aspect). Being on this group has taught him so much, they never bothered on each others statuses. They give what one lacks and in return one must do the same. He never felt pity when this group treats him. Which slowly cured the poison in his heart. Money became less of an issue for him, thanks to the people which changed him to a new person that he never thought he would be.
Although there's still a part of the old him that remained. He was doing much better than before.
When he thought he could only take a peek of the world through a cage. Somebody opened the door for him.
He was happy that he was free but also hesitant for his cage has been his comfort and safety.
Although it took sometime for him to decide, he finally took a step out off his cage.
“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” — William Shedd
Hi guys! Hope you liked my story. I actually took inspiration from William Shedd's quote, seeing that I'm somewhat similar to a ship that is in harbor. This would be my second post on steemit, And I hope, I can come up with new things to post. And thank you for spending some time to read. Cheers!
Good inspiration
