We are running out of places to make poopy walks
I think that to preface this I aught to start out by defining exactly what a "poopy walk" is. It's not some sort of derogative statement about going trekking in Nepal although in many ways it would be an appropriate comparison. By the way my spell-checker is indicating that "derogative" is not a word but the dictionary diagrees.
I hate that language is a lost art now.
Well the real definition of poopy walks in my life is my little doggie friend Nadi and how while she is perfectly capable of relieving herself on the pads that I have purchased for her she would very much prefer the great outdoors.
Unfortunately for her (and me) the area that we live in has diminishing levels of anything that could be considered nature.

As you have no doubt noticed by a lot of what I say on here, I am forever engaged in a rant of sorts about how everything here in Da Nang is quickly being turned into cement. There is virtually no nature that exists outside of a potted plant anymore round here and I don't think that powers that be will be satisfied even once all the earth is upwards and no essence of plant life exists anymore. It is kind of evident because many of the skyscraper looking buildings decide to cover the exterior of their buildings with this ivy type of plant in an veiled attempt to make the building itself appear as if it was plant life.

Nadi's walks have been reduced to areas that once were, or soon will be, construction sites. She likes them, and no, I am not lazy and will take her to other places, but the few instances of plant oriented areas that we have around here have strict no pet policies and it is just terrible.

Nadi looks miserable in these pictures and trust me, I am aware of this. But understand one thing: She is happy as a pig in shit to be out here at all even though the area she is in is the leftovers from a demolition mixed in with cigarette butts.

As tragic as it looks, Nadi and I need to enjoy the existence of this spot for as long as we can because it is unlikely that it will remain like this for long. The area that we live in is the hot spot for tourism in this city and the only thing preventing people from building on our poopy spot now is the astronomical prices that are being charged for the land here. I have heard rumors that at least for now, the square km that I currently live in is some of the most expensive real-estate in all of Vietnam.
While at the moment the poopy-ville consists of a long discarded suitcase and is basically a gigantic ash-tray, there will come a time where the diggers come out and the usual signs of rebar reaching up into the sky covers this place as well.
I often ask myself why I continue to live here.
Thankfully, Nadi is pretty easy to please and I take her down to this spot and let her off the leash and she just wanders around and pees on everything then when she is done exploring she comes back to my feet, looks at me, and this indicates that it is time to go home and some of the time I carry her instead of having her walk. She is 12 years old after all.
Once they take away this spot I may have no choice but to intentionally violate the "no pet" areas because we don't have much space left here. It's a shame. By attempting to cater to the popularity that this area has created for itself it is also self-destructing what made it an attractive place to go to in the first place.
