2-Tone Banana
One of my favorite kinds of art is the still life. It wasn't always this way: before I understood them, I would always think, "What a boring painting. Nothing interesting going on there at all."
And yet, when you think about it, it's the most interesting thing of all -- time. And if you dig deeper not only time, but time as it relates to living things, things we consume (vegetables, fruits, wild game) and aesthetic or pragmatic objects (flowers, cups, vases, tables).
Nowadays, I love looking at all the depicted items and contemplating the fleeting nature of the fresh ingredients -- the clock's ticking until they're rotten -- and also how the people might have used the ingredients to cook, what they would've made, the ordinary things of life that swirl around a still, calm and frozen snapshot of history. Anyways, this banana sort of reminded me of that.
