Believing in the Unbelievable

Reality is something I have never had a proper grip on. For as long as I can recall, I have had an affinity for all things strange. Sometimes I wonder if my openness to strangeness causes it to manifest all around me. It often feels that way.

Experience is an amazing gift. Often, we do not understand things until we have experienced them. You always hear ex-skeptics saying things like "I was a skeptic until this happened..". Somehow, even with a mind as open as my own, I still found things to be skeptical about. That's survival. That is human nature. Question everything.

I want to share with you one of my many experiences with my one of my dearest mistresses; unreality. I do not expect you to believe it, I would just like you to keep an open mind.. maybe reflect on your own glimpses into the looking glass.

When I was younger, I had a roommate. We were best friends and spent a lot of our time together. I guess our backstory doesn't really matter. Point is, he and I talked a lot.

On this night, we were hanging out in his bedroom, having a grand old conversation about something I honestly don't remember. What happened next was too much to recall whatever dumb thing we were talking about prior.

I was facing him at his computer desk, and he was facing his laptop.

There was a wall directly behind the computer and one directly beside him (this room is a square and he is in one of the corners).

He was doing whatever online, and we kept chatting. Typical shit, you know?

All of a sudden, the entire wall beside him waved. Maybe rippled is a better word.. like a flag waving in the wind. The entire wall. I tried to build up to this but there was no build up to this event. It just.. happened. There's no intricate, intriguing backstory here.

Can you seriously imagine something so solid, that you have seen hundreds if not thousands of times, doing something it really shouldn't have - no - couldn't - have? A purple wall, rippling like solid water.

We both had the same reaction. I immediately asked if he had "seen that", and he lifted up his hand and did a waving motion. Yes, he had seen it and he had confirmed. I did not ask "did you see the wall wave?". The experience was mutual, and not the only odd one we have shared together.

We both ended up laughing it off, but not before we both sat there asking each other if what we had just witnessed was real.

And oh buddy, my friendo, my good pal - it is just as real as the flesh on your bones, or, alternatively, your favourite dreams.

This is what I consider to be a mild anomaly, and I would love to share the rest of my stories with you guys if you are interested.
