Molly is a drug commonly used by collegiate and high school students. They are told by peers that it is okay to take the drug and that they will have fun. They do not bother to look into the effects it can have or if it is even the real drug they are purchasing. Their bodies are screaming for help, their brains are bleeding out, and they are making terrible decisions.

When it comes to defining molly, it is considered to be and truly supposed to be “pure” MDMA, which is the main drug in ecstasy. But in all reality, this is not the case. It is insanely hard nowadays to find truly pure molly. “The DEA says only 13% of the Molly seized in New York state the last four years actually contained any MDMA, and even then it often was mixed with other drugs. The drugs frequently found in Molly are Methylone, MDPV, 4-MEC, 4-MMC, Pentedrone and MePP.” Unfortunately if you do want to try it out or have tried it out. You were told it was pure if not, almost pure. When it was actually a mixture of other drugs. There are also cases of meth, heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine being laced with the MDMA.

The effects all these fillers and other chemicals can have on the human body is actually terrifying. Knowing that it is most likely not real molly, makes it even worse. The synthetic drugs will harm your body even more so than the MDMA would. Just like in the food world, they use fillers and cheaper ingredients for their products to make a little more money. Except in the drug world, they have no interest in the effects on the consumers. “The effects can vary widely, depending on the chemical, but while users are under the influence, they may exhibit the following symptoms: sweating, jaw clenching, violent or bizarre behavior and psychosis.” The dosages in the pills can vary widely as well as different drugs and chemicals are varied, causing even more severe side effects. “For example, officials have found completely different ingredients in drugs sold in the same packaging.”

When taking “pure” Molly, users “can produce elevated heart rates and distortion of thought processes, causing users not to realize their rising body temperature or fading stamina as they continue to party.” Which can lead to heart attacks, over heating of body temperature and not even realizing it till it is too late, and can lead to loss of consciousness. Mixing Molly with alcohol or taking higher dosages, which can vary per pill, will lead to more extreme side effects, “ranging from dehydration and exhaustion to more severe side effects such as hyperthermia, seizures, electrolyte abnormalities, cardiac episodes and comas.”

At the end of the day, please stay from Molly. Despite what you might hear, Molly is not good for you whatsoever. The effects Molly can have on one’s body, one’s mind, and one’s reputation are simply just not worth it.
