Forgiveness: Forget The Hurts And Not The Lessons

I believe you have heard or read this statement before "forgive and forget?". Am sure you have some how or some where come across that statement but then I want to ask again, is it so easy to forget the hurt from a loved one?

If you have ever being hurt by a loved one before, you will agree with me that you actually forgave the person but it took long to forget about the hurts and from time to time, thoughts of it passes your mind because of the wounds it created.

Yes it's good to forgive people but never forget the lessons you got from that hurt you received and do away with the hurts. If you keep the hurts in your mind then that there is where unforgiveness comes in and your mind will not be free.

No man born of a woman is perfect and therefore people must always hurt us even those that are dear to us. But this does not mean that we should deliberately be hurting people. In order to help yourself not to be too wounded, you got to let go of the pains but never forget the lessons you learnt. You might want to ask, what kind of lessons can be learnt from a hurt? Sure, there are lessons to be learnt from it if only you can look deeper and draw inferences. There is something I always do say

Learn from your pains

From that pain you got something to gain from it. If you can't learn from bad things then you may never learn from anything good that would come your way.

So in essence, I am saying we must let go of any pains we might have gotten from those who we love, forgive them and move on with the lessons we have learnt from the hurts. If you hold onto unforgiveness then you will only be hurting yourself and hindering your prayers from being answered by God.
