Sandwiches - The ultimate convenience food.

Everybody loves a good sandwich.

Most people I know these days are trying to cut down on bread but trying to cut down on something usually means that you will still eat a ton of it.

Willpower? Not these days.

The truth is that it's a lot more difficult to eat healthy.

Eating healthier is somewhat more inconvenient. Now, you can still make a healthy sandwich.....but you're definitely going to be buying your own bread. You can get some kind of whole-grain bread but I wouldn't trust every brand.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of bread although I really do enjoy Pizza.

This isn't about pizza though, it's about sandwiches.

Sandwiches are easy. You buy a loaf of bread, some meat, some vegetables, some mustard, ketchup, mayo, or whatever other condiment you like, and throw it together. You can toast it if you want.

In the past people would constantly make sandwiches. People aren't making them that often today though because it's so easy to just go to a sandwich shop.

I think there's something like 5 or 10 sandwich shops around here.

Some of them, like pot belly, are very expensive. The last time I went there I had a toasted meatball marinara sandwich with mushrooms on it and I think it was about $8.50 if I recall correctly, although I don't remember if I had a drink with it or not.

Potbelly has really delicious sandwiches..

Jersey Mike's is another big one. I don't understand Jersey Mike's because even though they serve up a reasonable sandwich, it really isn't that much better than what you can make yourself and it's certainly not worth the seven or eight dollars.

You've also got Firehouse Subs and Subway which both are pretty good. Firehouse Subs makes a great meatball sandwich. Subway makes a decent one for cheaper.

Of course, you can also go to the grocery store and get a premade sandwich that is already wrapped. That's an even cheaper option for a much bigger sandwich and usually those are pretty good too.

I remember the grocery store near me used to make an absolutely gigantic sandwich that almost looked like a surf board because it was so big. Even though I ate a ton of food back then I could still make that until like 4 meals.

Nowadays a grocery store sandwich might be two meals if you get the biggest one.

I think convenience is a much bigger thing today than it used to be in the past. That's because we have to work harder because everything is more expensive. Cost of living goes up. Do wages? For some people.

It's the harsh reality of living.

Still, I don't think we will ever get tired of eating sandwiches and I don't think we will ever get tired of paying for them for the sake of convenience.

Sandwiches.

The ultimate convenience food.

The reasons I love sandwiches - very easy, you can make it however you want and according to your liking, they are quite affordable. I would eat sandwiches everyday but I dont think my body would like that very much as sandwiches are usually light meals.

Sandwiches are usually easy to make. They're very easy to buy around here too.
