Don't Be Afraid To Stand ALONE!
It's scary when you realize that you don't have the same opinions, Or desires as those around you. I'm experiencing that now.
We always hear that it's "okay" to be different. But many of us, Deep down don't think so. And we often end up conforming, Just because everyone else is.
You'll Screw Up More!
Don't just stand alone for the heck of it, Unless it's something you truly believe in. Sometimes you are alone for a very smart reason....
Because the thing you are pursuing, Actually is a bad choice.
Screwing up sometimes, Is a good thing, It forces us to learn real quick.
We end up growing faster, Even if we ned up with a ton of people staring or laughing at us.
You'll Become A Leader
Sometimes when you lead the way, And people see that you are getting great results from your choices, You'll have a chance to teach and help others where you are at. This will not only help you become better at what you are doing But Will allow you to potentially get other perspectives to address better the project you are working on.
Your Life Will Be Happier Overall
I was disappointed when I grew up and started realizing what this "Adulthood" Is really about. It broke my heart, Because what most people "Want." Are things I can never see myself wanting.
Such as a stable career, Or Living in the same house with a picket fence and kids. Being the stay at home mom, Having to spend my life cleaning up after kids, Running errands. And watching lame sports events.
Ugh....
Now there is nothing wrong with it, If that's what you want. Then go for it! But for me, That's not a life I want to live. And by being open to the idea of making what others see "crazy" Decisions. I am giving myself a unique life. Here I am 24 years old, And I feel like everything I've ever wanted is within reach. This is all because I decided to get out of my comfort zone and try something new that wasn't as common.
I graduated high school late so that I could focus on art more.
I dropped out of college.
I started my own business.
I taught myself about stock investing at the age of 16.
I'm so grateful even now, That my younger self-made such smart choices.
When you are willing to stand alone. Often you'll have better opportunities.
What got me to become self-employed, I don't remember where I heard it. But someone said, "When you work at a large company, You have much more people to compete with, Then if you were to start your own business." It's so true!
We often live the only way that we know to live, and that's the same way most people end up living. Don't be afraid to be different. And make crazy choices. There are so many benefits to doing so.
Fair play to you. As you get older you need to go for the things you want. As long as it doesnt hurt anybody else you should be able to do whatever you want. I have a different plan to my friends, i dont want a wife and kids but i have my friends and family so thats all that really matters to me.
I love this post! It's hard to stop looking to others for validation and confirmation, but once we do there is no looking back and we end up gravitating to like-minded individuals naturally. Awesome work!

The choices you make while younger always affect how life goes as you age. See I gamed and watched cartoons and didn't focus enough when I first started and I wanted to just study, but not getting part time work and having that reference has made it so hard to get work over time, besides some casual jobs.
You have made some great choices to get where you are, and have learned from the bad mistakes and grown. You are right about standing alone is mostly best if you are so set on it actually being right and not having to be like everyone.

Everyone is unique. That's the most powerful thing we've ever had. There is always someone who is faster than you, smarter than you, but no one will ever be the unique blend of YOU!
When you are doing something different, people around you ask you a lot of questions. It's because they are not used to see something like this.
You're in a different path. Don't ever get disappointed if someone makes a bad comment about that. When you are successful, they all come to congratulate you. Till then just keep hustling and do the things that feels right to you. Time will say who is right!
i think one of the best ways we can help to change society is to mentor kids so that we can say to them, it's ok to be different. it's ok not to want the white picket fence and marriage. as someone who grew up in a society ingrained with that message, I stood alone for half of my life not knowing that other people were also standing alone. thanks for this post :)
The biggest problem is that most of us just want to blend in. We need to teach our kids that being different is something great , that they should not be afraid to strive for greatness !

This is a hard thing to learn how to do. I'm going through a similar situation myself and it has made things weird with people around me at times. At times I find myself feeling guilty for not doing what it takes to please other people but it makes things so much harder on myself, it's really not worth it I guess. Or at least I hope.
But anyway, thanks for sharing, this is a great post.
