Traveling is a lot of fun, But it also can be stressful if you don't pack well. Packing less and enough is important to avoiding fees as well as the inconvenience with all the stuff you brought!

Lay Everything Out

When I travel, I like to lay everything out that I want to bring. That way I know exactly what I need to bring.
I also make a list! It's just too easy to forget some of the things you may want to bring.
I know this method works because whenever my boyfriend and I travel, He forgets things. And I seem to have everything he can think of. I even brought some ramen noodles and foldable bowls on our last trip, So we could save a little money by eating ramen one night. When you remember everything, you are less likely to get stuck paying extra for annoying convenience items. Buying things at the airport, Or even the grocery store once you land, Can cause you to waste money, Especially if they only have full sized bottles available (Which are usually cheaper). Then you won't be able to fly it home with you Unless you can empty enough travel sized containers. This method also allows you to pack less, Because it's so easy to assume you forgot something, Then you end up packing extra when you may not need to.

Plan Outfits

And choose colors that match!
For me, I don't have to think about this one. Because all I wear everyday is black. But for those of you color wearing people. Planning exactly what you'll wear on each occasion can save you space in your carry on, And make things more convenient for you.

That's another advantage of laying things out; You can see what matches with what and plan accordingly based on that. Try to pick versatile outfits and accessories. So you can reuse them throughout your trip.

Packing Cubes

I love packing cubes I never imagined they would work as well as they would. I can easily roll up my clothes, Then stuff them in the cubes, They stay put, and I can pack so much more in my carry on, Plus things are nicely organized so when I unpack it's easy! I highly recommend getting a high-quality set! That will last you a while. Many of them are see through so you can see exactly whats inside.

Traveling doesn't have to be too stressful! These tips will simplify your traveling.

Last year I bought some packing cubes for traveling. What a difference they made. I got them on Amazon - variety of sizes actually, and I found them to be even more useful than I was thinking. They helped me fit everything into the suitcase neat and clean. Makes it very easy to unpack as well (and still keep stuff in the suitcase, since everything is organized).
Of course, I start making a list 1 week if traveling overseas, or at least a couple of days for domestic. That way I always remember a thing or two to add to that list and when it's time to execute - my marker goes fast from the first to.. gazillion-th point. :)
Planning outfit is another page in my diary - I go as far as I take pictures with my camera and matching outfits (yes, my family laughs at me for doing that, but then… when comes the time to execute fast out-door outfit - abra-cadabra and I'm done!).

Hi @kaylinart, nice reading post! My wife also has a list, we have been using that same list for like 4 years now! It has been so updated since we first wrote it, we even replaced the small umbrella with disposable poncho!
Have a great day!

Same list? WOW! That is amazing! I write a new one for each trip, I think I need to steal your wife's idea on that! LOL.

With a bit of variation of course! Not bring them suits to BALI! haha
But the main stuff(emergency medi kit, ponchos etc) that we might forget is always there!

Wish I had a bookmark for this for all the plane rides I had to go on. Can never get rid of the feeling like you forgot something important!

right? Thats why I have an obsession with lists LOL.

Great tips. I love to pack last minute. I seem to perform best then, lol.

Thats a good way of doing it, When you do it last minute, I feel like you are less likely to overpack. You can't overthink it. Instead you bring what you absolutely need. When I pack too early I find myself adding more and more stuff to my bag haha.

I'm always a planner when it comes to traveling. Sometimes that means I end up bringing more stuff than I actually need... but I believe in being prepared. And, as you say, it tends to help us avoid having extra expenses along the way, having to buy things we've forgotten.

Also save quite a bit by buying food from local grocery stores, rather than eating out. It might not be as exciting, but you can usually find some really nice picnic spots.

EXACTLY! Hehhe I am the same way! My boyfriend and I immediately go to a grocery store for snacks, and some meals. We save money that way so we can travel more often! We still eat out occasionally to try some of the different food. But its amazing how eating ramen noodles for only one night on a trip can save a nice chunk of money!

Good timing as always! If you get a sec could you check out the post I resteemed? Trying to help out one of our steemians!
