Minimalism HACKS!

in #life8 years ago

Here are some ways you can save time and money. Being a Minimalist has it's money saving advantages. Here are some great ones to help you own less crap!

Take advantage of the library!

Why do you need to own it? Do we need hundreds of books and movies that we will only use once?
I have a small bookshelf right now full of books; I'm working on reading them, Then I'm getting rid of them. I don't need the extra clutter of books. Sure, A couple of books won't hurt. But getting rid of access stuff will save space! Going to the library will give you access to thousands of cd's, books, and other stuff for free. So you have endless options without spending a penny!
You can also use Kindle Unlimited, Hulu, NetFlix for this stuff! Those options do cost money, But they work.

  • If you have Amazon prime, Try out the Amazon music app. It will give you thousands of songs for free.
  • Ready to get rid of stuff? Use apps like decluttr, Mercari and eBay to sell your stuff.

Take advantage of your smart phone!

This is an add on to the library. You don't need music players, Books, And in some cases movies. Because of your smart phone! Why to own a fancy phone if it doesn't help you save money!? There are free books on Amazon, Using the Kindle app. Many authors want you to download their book for free, In all kinds of genres. Take advantage of those free promos! Plus there are music apps with all kinds of music for you to listen to.

Get Samples

We buy things every day that we don't like or want! I've purchased so much make up over the years that I just flat out hated. I ended up wasting my money because I gave it away. Many places will give you samples of different products for free. Or you can buy smaller samples dirt cheap. Try websites like Pinch me That will get you free samples.
Once you find products you love, You can stick to them. That will allow you to save time because you won't have to hunt for certain things you want. Also check out my article free stuff to get more sample items!

Share Toiletries

If you live with others, share shampoos, conditioners, shaving cream, etc.
This will share space in the shower! It will also help you save money because you can buy one large bottle of each, And not have to buy extras! You will also reduce the chance of waste Because you won't have to worry about some of those bottles of shampoo getting lost.

Another option is getting stuff from thrift stores. Most of them, like Savers or Goodwill, have really high standards for what clothing they will accept. A lot of it looks brand new. I haven't bought new clothes for forever, and I can get a whole outfit for under $20, shoes included!

Kitchen supplies are great there too. I got a waffle iron for $5 in perfect condition.

Never pay full price for anything!

So true! I've noticed that too I love it.

Thank you for this article :)

No problem :)

Good ideas, thanks for sharing!
