Christmas freewrite!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Steemit! I’m here on the couch, all alone at midnight. @vermillionfox and @guthrie are sound asleep; visions of sugar plums dancing in their head, undoubtedly. That’s not true at all, if I’m being honest. @vermillionfox is dreaming of cough drops as she’s coming down with a flash cold, and @guthrie is likely contemplating how he’s going to spend $100 of ROBUX on silly games. The only part of that I can condone, of course, is supporting a digital currency…even if it isn’t on a blockchain. It’s been a day, so here’s a summary and freewrite about our Christmas.
Christmas Eve, I was up till 4:00a.m. Much of this year, @lovejoy and I have shared our Cathedral-thinking on lifelong ambitions, the ones we’re not currently pursuing with the fullness of our hearts and minds. Once he left Minnesota this fall, he’s turned up the output, met personal commitments, like launching his Patreon, and as such, I wanted to encourage that. In a previous blog post, he quoted our friendship as
“…one of my most supportive and encouraging brothers-at-arms in a life which has felt a good deal like a crypto-punk patchwork hot-air balloon careening wildly towards a flickering horizon of unseen potential.”
I think in that very moment, I knew eventually I’d design him a logo. What perfect imagery, which is why @lovejoy is such a great writer and why you should be contributing $5/mo at least to his Patreon aspirations. I went through a few iterations but ended with this simplified crypto-punk patchwork balloon. Once I finalized the artwork, I sat downstairs, staring at endless piles of wrapping paper, attempting to line up edges through bloodshot eyes. Once getting the last gift under the tree, I went to bed…for four hours.
@guthrie was warned, there won’t be as many gifts under the tree this year, but they’ll be “bigger ones”, as in, more expensive, less junk that he’ll never play with. Some of the presents were family gifts we could all enjoy. An LED projector so we can watch giant movies on Family Fun Night. I bought @vermillionfox a Nebia 2.0 shower head that is suppose to save 70% of water during showers […the most expensive gift this year, but one I’m probably most excited about].
After a short intermission, and a couple of hours of @guthrie kicking the tires on all his new shit, we left for Christmas at @vermillionfox’s grandparents’ house. @guthrie was absolutely spoiled with $100 cash, and @vermillionfox handed out these adorable little mice sleeping in Altoids tins […I’ll let her share those in her own Steemit post]. The vegan road is hard for me but @vermillionfox’s sister-in-law made me avocado sushi, which was really nice.
Once we got home, @vermillionfox crashed with a low temperature and a cough while @guthrie and I tried out the new projector with a viewing of Polar Express. This film has been a family tradition since he was a baby. At one moment, I looked at him, snuggled in a new fuzzy blanket, on a bed made of pillows, while he ate pizza, drank soda out of his new miniature refrigerator, watching his favorite holiday movie at 120” and he said “I love life!”. HA! Good enough for me.
Before the movie ended, I got several notifications from IndieGoGo, the last of which was incredible news. A remarkably generous donation of $500 came through on our @coppercoins campaign, which did in fact, push us over the threshold of funding! @ghostfish and I are currently 102% funded and I couldn’t be happier! It’s happening and it representing what often seems like an impossible life and career change. Thank you to everyone who contributed. I can’t wait to start sharing more @coppercoins work with you all.
Happy Holidays!

Hi Lars, it's great to see you and your family can celebrate Christmas happily. I saw your family's photo that you shared. It's like a family with Asian faces. Is that your extended family, sir? I hope you enjoy your great weekend.
I'm so happy that you're generally bringing the @coppercoins campaign closer to realisation, it's really been a busy Christmas for you and I know that you'll be obviously tired from all the activities
Sounds good and expensive and spoiled. Sorry to hear she is ill again. Happy days and 2020.
I am happy to see your togetherness with your family.
And I'm happy to see that @guthrie has gotten excited again.
Full appreciation for achieving your $ 500 hard work came through the @coppercoin campaign. congratulations and continued success my friend. 🎉🎉
Thanks for the kind words and the Patreon mention Lars... I think this is going to be a long and hard-fought campaign in which I will have to continually outdo myself... at the moment though, just working on staying fed and keeping warm in the RV on the mountainside... lol. Looks like you all had quite the awesome Christmas gathering! Cheers, b
