How to Stay Motivated
A big reason people lack the motivation to do the things they say they want to do is because they haven't taken the time to figure out what's truly important to them. They haven't crystallized their values.
What are values? They are simply the things you believe to be important. They are your "Whys" -- your reasons for doing what you do.
You can tell what your values are by your actions. If you value something, you prioritize it. However, if you say you value something but your actions don't back it up, then it's not really a value. It's just an aspiration.
How do your beliefs fit in with your values?
Your beliefs determine your values and your values determine your behavior (habits, decisions, actions, etc)
When you take the time to clarify your values, you'll tap into an endless source of motivation.
When you know what your values are, you'll become self-motivated because you'll start to see how your actions will enable you to experience more of the things that matter to you.
I'd like to share with you a list I wrote of some of my highest values. For each one, I also include my underlying belief that drives the value, along with a brief description of how each value manifests in my life.
