Speaking out your problems

in #life6 years ago

When it comes to problems, there are two types of people. 1. People that decide to speak out and find for a solution and 2. People that decide to eat those problems as breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper, and eat them again in their dreams. You can now tag yourselves, but I will shamelessly admit that I am the second type of person.

Does the problems taste good? They don’t really taste good when you eat them down, it’s a strange combination of mould, acids, and chemically produced bitterness. But, they taste like fresh iced-strawberry yoghurt when you vomit them out (hint: put a bottle of yoghurt in the freezer, they automatically become ice cream if you do so). I don’t know why, but it indeed feels like that.

Of course, being the second type of person is not a big deal, provided that you actually enjoy eating everything (like me). But there are indeed moments when you will appreciate being someone that speaks their problems out.

It helps to sleep better.

At least in my case.

My roommate is a strange guy (believe it or not, I thought that I am strange enough). He has an alarm set at 5 am, sometimes receive calls at 6 am, and there are also times where I woke up at 4 am because of whatever alarm he had for that moment. His analogue alarm clock also has an alarm at 4 o’ clock. God knows why.

Normally I would just be “ah right okay it’s his thing I’m not gonna question.” I’m not that easy to wake up from sleep anyway, normally I need my own alarm or a 7 hour sleep to wake up. But changes did happen, and now I find myself waking up easily to any alarm. By saying any alarm, that means any of his phone calls, alarms, cat meows, or anything that might be considered as an alarm can easily knock me out of sleep. I don’t like that, but I have no clue why that happened.

So this morning at 5am another alarm woke me up. Obviously it’s not mine. With a little rage in my heart I randomly picked an item that can be used as a slapping tool and slapped his leg (that’s his closest body part to me). He got up and watched at me with a confused face, realized that his alarm is ringing, closed it, and continued to sleep. It only took him one minute to continue snoring.

And obviously I am not that happy with that. He can sleep almost instantly while I need at least 30 minutes on the bed to fall asleep. To make things worse, I cannot take naps. I don’t know why, but during any time in the day, if the sun can see my location, I will fail to sleep.

This means I will go zombie mode every time this happens, and it is obviously not fun.

Actions required!

So today morning, I asked him about the alarm before I go for my morning shower. “Can I know why you have an alarm at 5 am?” He looked back at me with a confused face. “I have an alarm at 5 am?”

I should indeed question the world around me. But he checked his phone and disabled it.

Right now I am just hoping that I won’t wake up to some ringtone at 5 am this night. I don’t know what will happen tonight, but speaking it out and requesting for action indeed feels better than relying on caffeine for the rest of the day.

Wrapping up this post, see you next time. Have to catch some real sleep tonight.
