Life Is Too Short To Be Little: Benjamin Disraeli

in #life8 years ago (edited)

This quote "Life is too short to be little" by Benjamin Disraeli, always boosts my confidence to do something big in my life.

If we think about steemit, the time when we joined, we were full of confidence. We thought of doing something big, achieving something so good that we would be proud of ourselves. Days passed, months for some and a year for a few.

But are we even close to what we thought of or what we worked for.

The answer would be "NO" for most of us.

Similar is with our life. We always wanted to do something big. Nobody likes a mediocre life.

When we look back to the days of our childhood, we will remember that we were not the only ones having such dreams.

While some people who started with us, are today at such a level, we could only dream of, some are overburdened by the difficulties and failures of life and we feel sad for them.

So where did things go wrong? What is the difference between those who achieved big things, those who failed miserably and those of us, who are not where we wanted to be.

Does the ones who failed never tried to do anything in their life?

Does the ones who were successful were more intelligent and more skilful than us?

The only thing that separates people on different levels is the power to believe that they could do big things in life and keep believing that they will.

The only thing that makes a difference in people is the time when they start thinking; that's it, this is as far as I could go. I could never be better than this, I could never be bigger than this.

What makes the difference is where do we project ourselves and how much we believe in our projections.

Everyone makes an effort, whether to do a 100$ job, a 1000$ job or a million dollar job.

And it does not matter how much efforts we are putting, as the result of a 100$ job could never be a million dollar.

The difference in what we are doing comes through some voices.

Level 1: When your inner self-tells you; you are meant to fail at everything.

Whenever you think of doing something big, a voice inside you will tell you; this isn't what you could do, you are not worth that much. There is a lot of competition, a lot of difficulties out there. People are already doing good in this field, a lot of people know a lot more things than you do. You will never survive and fail miserably.

Level 2: When others will tell you that you are meant to fail at everything.

If you get over these voices and doubts, and still believe a bit that you can do it, some more voices will come. The voices of people around you, who will explain you in a million ways why you will fail.

Level 3: When you think again that you will definitely fail at whatever you are doing.

If you are still persistent of trying, and start working on your dreams, your inner voices comes back. You have tried a lot, you have done whatever you could, and now there is nothing more you could do. You are not succeeding at it, time to leave this.

This is the level where I always give up.

This is where after working a lot, I think, I could not keep up and this is not for me.

This is where most of the people give up, this is where the actual difference is made.

The will of keep going, keep working to get better is found in only some people.

This is where all the difference is made, those who give up early, are those who are not good at anything, not happy in doing anything.

The longer we continue, the better and bigger we become.

I myself have noticed that when ever I don't give up, I do better than what I had imagined.

As I always think, "Nobody kicks a dead dog". If you are being kicked, or you think that you will be kicked, you are trying to do something that not everyone has guts to do.

Yeah, that's a great quote! However I don't fit in most of the stereotyped life-goals & attitudes described here, but I do agree with this quote.

I'm at peace with living a mediocre life. I feel it's all how you define and interpret the notions behind several words. Although living a mediocre life, I don't feel it to be "little". Life is divine in itself. So considering it "little" is just a perspective. "Success" also means different things to different people. You can always define it to feel yourself successful. Personally, I've never met any successful person so far. I have also never met a person who is a failure. We just need to change our perspective to define a situation in a way that makes us feel good.

So my statement would be:

If you can't change a situation to your advantage, change your perspective towards it! 😊

If you are content with your life, you are above success. Success or above mediocre doesn't means making millions of dollars, if you are happy with 100$, you are already successful. The end goal is how happy you are with what you are doing and where you are in life.
Some people are happy when they are ill or under debt. They lack a lot from others perspective, but if they are happy, that's the only thing that matters.
And I have made a lot of people who are failures, because they aren't happy in life even if they have everything or are rich. I have met a lot of successful people too, you are one among them.

Thanks for the comment.

Very well said! As you mentioned, it's the positive attitude and confidence in our ability that can take us places. Beyond that, action and persistence are achievement prerequisites. Thanks for the motivation. I better get going with my blog.....

Nobody kicks a dead dog. True! Even negative attention is a form of social validation. Lovely post! Look forward to more from you.

Haha, your words make sense too, I start with my blog too...haha

I always believe that it's about what you do with the talents that were given to you. Did you use it, multiply it or did you bury it in the ground.

Only some people are lucky enough to get to know their talents, and even then most waste them throughout their life.

Thanks for your post, @looftee. This is a great quote...

I think what separates those who DO from those who DON'T is taking action. In order to achieve your dreams and/or find success in your life requires an unwavering effort and a commitment to doing. Many of us never start, stop, or lose our pace in the pursuit of our goals.

I have upvoted your post and followed you so that I may see more from you in the future. Feel free to follow me back.

In the meantime, good luck here on Steem and enjoy your journey!

Hope you never stop your journey and keep going like you are now. All the best to you too.

The achievers achieve due to believing in themselves. They are the directors in their "movie of life." They make life happen. The one's who don't let life happen to them.

So true bro, I always think and direct my life.
