The fight against cancer continues
Vor ca. einem Monat habe ich damit begonnen, mir einen kleinen Server bei [Digital-Ocean(*)](https://m.do.co/c/71d1d1602833) anzulegen. Mit diesem kleinen Server für 5€ im Monat berechne ich für das World Community Grid Projekt komplexe Rechenaufgaben um die Forschung zu unterstützen. About a month ago I started a small server at [Digital Ocean(*)](https://m.do.co/c/71d1d1602833). With this small server for 5€ per month I calculate complex computational tasks for the World Community Grid Project to support the research. Nun sind die ersten 5€ schon fast verbraucht und ich habe mich dazu entschlossen weiter zu machen. Die Resonanz welche die kleine Maschine ausgibt ist schon sehr gut. Dabei läuft diese nur auf 80% CPU Auslastung um andere Virtuellen Maschinen nicht zu beeinträchtigen.
Das kleine Droplet ist demnach sogar effizienter als mein herkömmlicher Computer wenn dieser an ist. Der kleine Server läuft 24 / 7 durch und rechnet an verschiedensten Projekten.
Now the first 5€ are almost used up and I decided to continue. The response of the small machine is already very good. This runs only on 80% CPU load in order not to impair other virtual machines.
The little Droplet is therefore even more efficient than my conventional computer when it is on. The small server runs 24/7 and calculates on various projects.
Da ich momentan keinerlei Spenden leiste, sehe ich dieses Projekt als kleine Spende für mich an um damit auch noch etwas gutes zutun. Also habe ich den kleinen Server um 2 weitere Monate verlängert um an den Forschungsprojekten kontinuierlich weiter zu rechnen.
Since I don't make any donations at the moment, I see this project as a small donation for me to do something good with it. So I extended the small server by 2 more months to continue with the research projects.
Ich bin gespannt wie es mit den Forschungen weiter geht. Ich bin jedenfalls zufrieden und für mich ist es ein tolles Gefühl damit einen guten kleinen Beitrag zur Forschung beizutragen. Und wenn der verdammte Krebs irgendwann besiegt ist, kann ich sagen... Ich habe einen kleinen Teil dazu beigetragen. Alleine diese Vorstellung stützt meine Motivation hier weiter zu machen. Mittlerweile habe ich auch schon einen Badge bekommen, dafür das ich das Projekt: [Mapping Cancer Marker](https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/mcm1/overview.do) aktiv über 14 Tage lang unterstütze. Wie ihr seht ist das Projekt Mapping Cancer Markers das Projekt, welches am Meisten berechnet wird.
I am curious how the research will continue. In any case, I am satisfied and it is a great feeling for me to make a good little contribution to research. And if the damn cancer is defeated sometime, I can say... I have contributed a small part to this. This idea alone supports my motivation to continue here. As you can see, the project Mapping Cancer Markers is the project that is most often calculated.

Habe nun auf 3 Prozessorkerne hochgestellt! Nun werden 3 Forschungen gleichzeitig berechnet!
I have now upgraded to 3 processor cores! Now 3 researches are calculated simultaneously!

I definitely appreciate everyone participating to a cause this important. Another way to look at it, could be to see it as someone spending tons of CPU power to mine cryptocurrency to stuff in their own pocket. By doing this - you actively do make an actual change to help others! while still getting a small token of appreciation from Byteball.

Hi, super Artikel und ein interessanter Ansatz mit dem Droplet!
Hast Du Dir mal Boinc auf Android angeschaut? Wenn Du noch ein altes Smartphone hast, ist das auch ein günstiger Weg, um am Grid teilzunehmen!
Raspberry Pi mit Android geht auch, ist m.E. aber nicht leistungsfähig genug, um die Stromkosten zu rechtfertigen :)
