😭 Yes Theory and the Saddening Generational Divide

Hey, Everyone...

Before reading this post, please watch the video up above. It really pulled on my heartstrings and I think it will make you feel some type of way too.

I have made a Steemit post in the past using a Yes Theory video. For the record, I love the videos these guys make. They are so inspirational and always make me want to go outside and explore the world. But this video.... this video was difficult to watch.

A generational divide is always a harsh reality to face. Especially when it causes complications in family relationships. I can't say that I relate to Ammar and the difficult situation that he is currently in, but that doesn't mean that I can't feel for him.

Generational divides will always exist. We all know that societal norms and customs are constantly changing depending on multiple variables (i.e religion, geography, culture, year, etc). This is evident in Ammar's situation since his father lives in Egypt. The cultural differences between Egypt and California are extreme so of course, there will be some form of conflict. I just would have never thought that it would get to the point that Ammar's father would disown him.

I know Ammar must have a mixture of emotions, but I'm actually really proud of him for choosing to follow his dreams. Regardless of what his father says, family is family. Ammar states in the video that the words that his father said were said with a loving intention and I believe it. We can't really blame Ammar's father for not understanding Ammar's vision and goals because of the generational divide. It really does seem like Ammar's father only wants the best for him and since he doesn't understand the differences, he believes he is doing what is best for his son. From an outsiders perspective, I believe Ammar and his father will eventually come together again.

If your dreams put you in a position where you can positively influence other people and improve other people's lives, I will always say follow your dreams. People will eventually understand and support you.

If you are in a difficult or similar situation, keep up the grind. It will get better. Stay true to yourself and to your ideals. In the words of Yes Theory, "Seek Discomfort." We only grow as individuals when we're uncomfortable.

Much love, Ammar. Bless up.
