Don't Worry, It's Safe...

shark attack

If you have ever seen the movie Jaws, you may remember the scene where they first see the size of their nemesis, Bruce, the GREAT White Shark. Richard Dreyfus, who plays the nerdy marine biologists wants Roy Scheider, the guy who plays Chief Brody to go out on the end of the boat, on this small, slim platform called bowsprit, just so he can have some perspective in the photos he was taking. The shark was so big, Hooper was afraid no one would believe how big the shark was, if there wasn't something in the photo to gauge its size.

"Don't worry... it's safe!" he assured Chief Brody. But, having wisdom way beyond his years, Chief Brody thought better and refused his invitation and instead suggested that Mr. Hooper go have copulation with himself. At least that's how I remember that scene, more or less.

The thing is, that scene has stuck with me, even after first seeing the movie so many years ago. I too have felt that only a crazy person would go out on the end of a boat, hanging out over the water, taunting a hungry shark like a juicy piece of bait. I have been ridiculed even, by friends and family, for sharing my concerns and fears of being bitten by angry sharks, even if I understand that, at times, they may be a bit irrational.

But not THIS time! At last, I have sweet, SWEET vindication! Watch this video of a real life Jaws wanting to take a bite out of a real life dumass doing his best shark-bait impression on a bowsprit:

Don't let ANYONE, EVER tell you a shark can't get you on a bowsprit again!
