My biggest hurdle investing in crypto....

in #life7 years ago

In life the best way to get ahead is to express your thoughts in words that mass people can understand and relate to. Warren Buffet admitted when in his youth he had a fear of public speaking. He emphasized his great success in life had to do with overcoming the fear and recommends to all who wish to succeed in life to do the same.

So last night I got into a long discussion with my partner regarding to investing in crypto. To all who do not know I started investing in crypto about three months ago and have been hooked since. I read daily news, forum, and chatrooms about the impressive things alt-coins and bitcoin has to offer. I definitely still have a lot to learn but grasping the reasons why investing in crypto is an opportunity of a lifetime is not that difficult to see. What has been a great challenge to me is to get buy in from my other half and it has proven difficult to do. I conclude the main reason of this is because of me. I am a terrible sales person and hate public speaking. All who are in my inner circle will admit I am sometimes very difficult to understand.

The way I approach my discussion with my wife has always been to be simple and direct. Nothing to hide and nothing to lie about. In regards to crypto investing when ever I see fit to bring in mining coins or investing in them she shoots it down on the spot. I get it though, because not many people understand what they are and it has not been accepted mainstream. Yet proof is in the pudding they say and my wife is frustrated that I spend countless hours defending and supporting alt-coins. Her frustration is understandable because like any other family we have children to feed and expenses to pay.

"Crypto is not a stable investment and viable way of life to support a family" she says. I came into crypto literately one week before the total market cap was at a peak of over $180billion. Since then it has not broken pass that yet and a lot of alt-coins have proven to fluctuate quite a bit. It is difficult for me to explain to her that this is only temporarily and that in the long term it will yield great rewards. I would explain examples of how an alt-coin risen 1000% within a year and how just putting a few dollars will prove its worth in the future. Who could ignore the massive gains crypto has to offer, but she closes every discussion with "if it is too good to be true it probably is. They are all a scam."

The resolution I have made for myself is that I will have to go at this alone and provide the necessary results to show my wife that investing in cryptos can yield great rewards. I have slowly scrapped what I could to investing in cloud mining programs, steems, and faucets to reach where I am now in the 3 months I have followed crypto. I hope by consistently doing what I am doing now in all my crypto projects that at the end of the year I can yield something my wife could see. Like the old saying "Seeing is believing." It has proven difficult as I had made some pitfalls and mistakes investing in alt-coins but I am hoping by working harder and longer I can recover quickly. My wife promised if I could exchange some crypto for real money than she will change her mind with cryptos. This is what I must do in hopes to get access to some capital to invest in a mining rig.
