How Amazon screwed my Birthday Weekend and other joyful observations :o)
Hello!!! It's my birthday weekend. That's right. I am having a whole weekend of celebration. Which means that I might not be about on steemit as much.
Don't worry! It takes more than old age to drive this Scotsman to Steemicide! I will be back in a couple of days.
But I will still try and pop on even if wildly drunk and upvote all my buds and even others from the new tab I have never read before.
Back in the day, I used to celebrate for a week. Oh, the debauchery! My presents were usually guitar or music oriented and mostly funded by me with the rest cobbled together from my family. I really did like to go to town.
Now, being a dad my birthdays are little affairs. Like shy woodland creatures poking their snouts out of the burrow at the first hint of spring. No longer can I go on the lash for a week. Instead, now I have some cake and wistfully look at the sky. Well all right then. I still drink a bit. How can anyone give up banana bread beer?!?!
This year I was to get a guitar pedal from Amazon. The utterly amazing Trio Looper Plus. It's an expensive little bastard clocking in at £185 British pounds. (That's a lot of steem)
Fortunately, I had a plan. I had asked for Amazon vouchers for my Christmas from all and sundry and also asked for these for my birthday much to the consternation of my older relatives who seem to think they are buying me shares in a large river.
So the plan was laid. I visited all my relatives and family. Collecting my little amazon vouchers. I had over a hundred pounds worth, the rest in mortal cash, I had squirrelled away from the eyes of my good lady wife who normally confiscates every last one of my earth pennies.
Yesterday I popped online to buy it.
WHAT THE BLAZES!!!
Amazon how dare you!! Pumping the price up by 65 pounds. I mean what the flump is going on there.
So now here I sit, bereft and pedal-less. I have decided I will drink beer until the price comes back down. It may be some time. I shall mail Amazon and tell them of my beer-in protest.
Has anyone else ever been so dreadfully stiffed by amazon before? Will the price ever come back down? This is worse than watching Crypto currency fluctuate!

So the price of the pedal has gone up? Do Amazon do Banana Beer? Could you order £185 worth of banana beer?
Hahah, Oh did it go up or what!! I have never seen the like. I suspect that they have clever software registering the page views and possibly estimating my drool'y saliva. Once it got to a tipping point, boom, they diddled me.
However the beer thing might work! £185 pounds worth of banana bread beer is about 120 bottles. Given that it seems to get me tiddly fairly quickly six a night would mean I could get a good two thirds of a month before being sober again. Except I wouldnt have any dosh after that oh noes! Possibly no job either.

I know!! If there is one thing that reassures me about life is that laughing at your own misfortune truly is a cathartic experience! I shall chortle my way through it hehehehe!

With all your partying, you won't remember ordering it - so does it really count as an extra expense? Or the universe wanting you to have that gift at any price? If you've really celebrated too many birthdays, you can count on your "doddering old self" ordering expensive gifts every year. Win-win. Your wife will understand as she raids your squirrel stash. I suspect she has always known where it is, but likes to humor you. Hope this next year is your best yet!
Oh yes I suspect she knows exactly where it is to. sob she just humors me! My doddering old self can barely tenner one day from the next even without celebrating so we will have to see... Cheers!!
